        December
          Details of 2 new events have been included in the Diary of Events page: The Emerging Technology for E&P Technical Forum 1997 , to be held in Aberdeen on 20&21 March 1997, is the first major collaborative venture by PSTI and MTD Ltd in technology transfer, and will provide a unique opportunity for a direct and detailed briefing on the combined R&D portfolios of both organisations. It will also include presentations on other technologies and R&D which have resulted from co-ordination and investment activities carried out by PSTI/MTD on behalf of their members. The 6th Annual Advances in Reservoir Technology Conference will be held in Edinburgh, 19-21 February 1997. This conference, organised by PSTI and IBC Energy Division, will feature Fault Prediction and Analysis, Recent Applications of 4-D Seismic, Integration of Geoscience Data, and Reservoir Uncertainty Management. The latest work from Mobil, Statoil , Saga Petroleum and Shell will also be included.

          The latest edition of the Oil & Gas Technology Newsletter is now available on PTERIS, in the European Publications section.

          The Diary of Events page has been updated with details of the following events: Space-Age Technologies for Oil and Gas SMEs - Space Technology Transfer Conference, organised by PSTI in collaboration with JRA Aerospace and Rolls-Royce plc: Sharing the Risk and Revenue with SMEs - Technology Acquisition Partnership with SMEs, organised by PSTI, in collaboration with Rolls-Royce plc.

          The Companies section of Oil & Gas Resources Index now includes a link to Atlantis Technical Services , a Scotland based marine and technical publishing company specialising in ISM Code, SOLAS and all other types of marine & offshore technical and operational documentation.

          The Library Resources section of the Oil & Gas Resources Index now includes a Current Awareness Services category, with links to Oil OnLine Industry News and Oil Industry NewsPage.

          The recent upgrading of the Colleges and Universities Section of the Oil & Gas Resources Index is now complete, with many new links to colleges and universities with departments related to the petroleum industry, and a restructured index page, with countries grouped by region.

International Workshop on Advanced Materials for Marine Construction New Orleans, 5-7 February 1997.

          The Minerals Management Service, a bureau of the U.S. Department of the Interior, has been included in the Laboratories, Research Institutions,and Government Organizations section, within the Oil and Gas Resources Index. The MMS home page provides access to geological, geophysical, engineering, and environmental information related to natural gas, oil, and other minerals.

          PTERIS has a link to the new site, The Seismic Connection, within the Oil & Gas Networks section of the Oil & Gas Resources Index. The Seismic Connection is a news, data and information resource for the Exploration & Production segment of the Petroleum industry. The site focuses on issues surrounding seismic exploration of Earth's subsurface formations in the search for oil reserves: data acquisition and processing, data management, and data interpretation. As an online community for E&P engineers, geoscientists and professionals, this site hosts interactive forum discussions and provides links to data archives in the public domain. The site also highlights open, integrated, end-to-end data solutions from IBM. The site will be restricted to registered members only in the near future however, for a limited time, this site is open to all visitors.

          There is now a link to the National Technology Transfer Center - a US national network which links companies and laboratories to turn government research results into practical, commercially-relevant technology, in the Oil & Gas Resources Index, under the Wheeling Jesuit University, where the Center is based.

          The Aberdeen section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers is now hosted by PSTI

          JOULE-THERMIE UK Road Show 1996 - The European Commission will issue a call for proposals under the JOULE and THERMIE programmes on 15th September 1996.

        • PTERIS now has a new "Add a link to PTERIS" facility - if you have a URL which you believe would be of use to other PTERIS users you can use this form to submit it to us.

          Links have also been placed on the European Commission Activities page, and the Industry Bodies page.

        • The Fault Analysis Group now have their own Web site.

        • The Oil and Gas Resources Index College and University Departments list has been updated considerably.

        • It is now possible to order, by email, the IPRD on CD-ROM or hardcopy.

        • The July edition of the Network Update is now available.

        • A major industry conference on Knowledge Working has been organised by PSTI, IBC and Petrosystemsworld for the 19th/20th September in Aberdeen. Visit the conference web site on PTERIS to find out more about this major IT event.

        • The latest Oil and Gas Technology Newsletter has been added to the list of OPET publications.
        June
        • The Oil and Gas Resorces Index has been updated to include the Thermodynamics Research Laboratory at the University of Illinois. The Lab has also set up pages dedicated to the subject of Arterial Blockage in the Petroleum and Natural Gas Industries.



        • PTERIS was recently awarded its' first Internet award by Magellan, published on-line by the McKinley group, which reviewed and awarded PTERIS a three star rating. This places PTERIS in the the 22-27 points section (out of a maximum of 30) based on qualification in the following categories:

          • Depth
          • Ease of Exploration
          • Net Appeal

        • PSTI have set up the web pages for the Oil & Gas Information Conference in Stavanger on 6-7 June. Aimed at information workers within the oil industry, the conference will cover a wide selection of information related topics such as geological data storage, knowledge managment and the Internet

        • The R&D Project portfolio section has been updated. In addition to a number of links to research bodies there are now links to PSTI projects on :
