SEASENSE - a new LINK initiative

SEASENSE, a new LINK programme sponsored by the NERC and DTI, has been launched in the area of sensors for monitoring and managing the marine environment. The programme will be managed by Christopher Dudgeon of Offshore Technology Management Ltd, one of PSTIís SME Members.

The technologies most likely to receive support under the programme will probably include optical sensors, fibre-optic sensors, solid state sensors for automated analysis of chemical composition, navigation and positioning sensors, and simple inexpensive platforms. Particular emphasis will be placed on the effective use of sensors including factors such as robustness, reliability, low-cost, small size, adaptability and re-usability.
