Membership

        "...research, technology, information and networking for the upstream petroleum industry..."

        The Institute operates a range of membership schemes designed to suit the specific requirements of particular groups of organisations. Membership is open to any industry or public sector organisation, large or small, which has a need to see new technology developed and brought into use in the oil and gas sector.

        Current membership schemes are:

        • FULL MEMBERSHIP (Large oil companies / goverment agencies)

          Primarily used by oil and gas companies and government agencies, full membership is open to any organisation. Full Members have open access to all of the Institute's research and services. Membership includes the right to be elected to the Institute Council, which controls the strategic direction and agrees policies for the forward development of the Institute as a whole.

        • ACCESS MEMBERSHIP (Large service / supply companies)

          Targeted at larger service and manufacturing companies who wish to evaluate the benefits of becoming a full member, Access Membership provides some of the benefits of full membership, and all the benefits of the SME scheme.

        • ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP (UK Universities and non profit R&D organisations)

          This is a low cost scheme available to universities and not-for-profit research organisations. Membership provides greater access to PSTI industry members and routes to feed in information on research results and forthcoming research proposals through PTERIS.

        • SME MEMBERSHIP (Small to medium-sized companies)

          Specifically targeted at small to medium-sized companies, eligibility for membership is restricted to organisations committed to providing the upstream oil and gas industry with enhanced technology. SME members benefit from access to innovation support assistance which includes:

          • world-wide contacts from PSTI's membership network in industry, governments and the research community;

          • identification of technical specialists, joint venture technology partners, information trading and potential RTD club partner;

          • articles and papers edited and placed in trade journals through PSTI;

          • free development of Internet homepages for each member as required;

          • an opportunity to voice SME views on technology-based issues.
